Registration is now open for the highlight of the summer!
Each year in mid-July, we gather for our pilgrimage between Helsingborg and the chapel of Sankt Arild. The walk takes us along the coast through Kullabygden, one of the most beautiful corners of Sweden. We follow the Skåne coastline through fields and forests, past beaches, harbours and rolling countryside, until we reach the small chapel dedicated to Sankt Arild. Built just over a hundred years ago by the Trapp family, it remains a quiet Catholic landmark in a part of the country where such places are rare.
The weekend is much more than the walk itself. On Friday we set out from Helsingborg early in the morning and arrive in Arild by evening, where we celebrate Mass and have time to rest, swim and take in the sea. On Saturday we celebrate a solemn Mass at St. Mary's Church in central Helsingborg, followed by a procession through the town. The rest of the day is spent together with talks, prayer and a proper evening meal with plenty of singing and good company. On Sunday we travel to Torekov for Mass in the old church ruins by the sea, followed by a picnic before we say our goodbyes.
Many people come with an intention in their heart, for a sick relative, for a vocation, for someone they love, or for peace in the world. Others come simply to meet fellow Catholics from across Sweden and Europe, to deepen their faith, or to experience something you really can't find anywhere else in this country. Whether you've walked with us before or are joining for the first time, you're warmly welcome.
